What to Look for in a Private Label Candles Manufacturer

Candles manufacturing quality comes down to wax system selection, fragrance performance, and burn testing rigor. These three criteria address the variables most relevant to consumer satisfaction.

Wax Type Selection and Sourcing Quality

Soy wax is the most popular for natural and clean-burning positioning. Paraffin delivers excellent scent throw and consistent performance. Coconut wax commands premium positioning with a creamy appearance. Beeswax is natural but the most expensive option. Raw material quality varies significantly between suppliers and affects burn characteristics, scent throw, and appearance. Confirm your manufacturer can document the source and specifications of the wax used and has consistency standards for incoming wax quality.

Fragrance Load and IFRA Compliance

Fragrance load is typically 6 to 12 percent of wax weight. Higher fragrance load does not automatically produce stronger scent throw if the wax cannot bind the fragrance effectively. Every candle formula and container combination must be burn tested before production release to confirm clean burning without excessive soot, appropriate melt pool formation, safe container temperature, and correct wick size for the container diameter. Container candle production typically starts at 100 to 500 units per scent. Custom container shapes require glass or tin sourcing investment. Custom fragrance development adds timeline and may require fragrance minimum purchases. Burn testing adds four to eight weeks to the development timeline for new formula-container combinations.
